The International School of Tianjin is committed to information technology as a tool that is used in a safe and responsible manner by all members of our community for communication of information, collaboration of work, and global connections. All teachers are technology teachers with a responsibility to develop all students as risk-takers and achievers that are comfortable and confident using information technology as a bridge to success in real life, now and in the future. The school provides appropriate access to information technology for all students and teachers to enhance learning, increase effectiveness, and promote independence. Ongoing support is provided through commitment to finances, resource development, and training as we create a seamless and comprehensive electronic community with active members that enjoy life-long learning.
The school provides access to information technology resources in all locations where they are needed. This includes computers, networked file server access, internal email and BBS system, the ability to send and receive email outside the school, printing facilities, digital projectors, CD burning, Internet access, digital camera, and scanners. Computers for student use are located in two main computer labs, the library, secondary classrooms, and in the shared areas located between each pair of classrooms in the elementary school.
The library has a computerized catalogue system that is accessible from students’ homes.
Administrators, support staff, reception, and the clinic have individual computers.
STUDENT USE OF TECHNOLOGY
The computer facilities at IST exist to serve as a tool in the education of students. Students are expected to use technology in an appropriate manner and the school will therefore determine student access to such technology. Access to computers, E-mail, the LAN, and the Internet entails responsibility. The school requires all users to obey all laws in effect within the country of China and to follow the school’s behavioral expectations when using the computer facilities. Should an abuse of technology occur, the user will be held accountable for his or her actions in accordance with the school’s behavioral expectations.

Other points that I think affect IT and resources are:
Mother Tongue: IT can assist students in:
§ Accessing the mother tongue language
§ Allowing research using the mother tongue
